Getting started
What is Viper PTT?
It is an internet radio: you create channels, invite your people and talk with a single button. It also has private messages, alerts, a team map and routes.
Do I need to buy radios or install antennas?
No. You only need an Android phone with the app, or a browser, and an internet connection (mobile data, Wi-Fi or satellite internet).
Does it work without internet?
No. Viper travels over the internet, so a connection is required. If the signal is weak, compressed audio helps keep data use low.
How do I invite someone to my channel?
Each channel has a 6-letter code you can share on WhatsApp, or you can find the person by username.
Channels and radio
How many channels can I create?
It depends on your plan: the free one includes 1 channel and paid plans add more. See the table on the plans page.
Can two people talk at the same time?
No: in each channel one person talks at a time and the others listen. That way voices do not overlap.
Can I talk privately to one person?
Yes. Inside the channel you pick the person and your voice reaches only them, with a different tone.
What does the alert button do?
It notifies the whole channel or the person you choose. People who do not have the app open get a notification on their phone.
What happens if my screen is off?
On Android, the app keeps a foreground service and receives private voice and alerts even when the phone is locked. It is best to allow notifications and disable battery optimization.
Map and routes
How does the team map work?
Each person decides whether to share their location. The administrator sees those who share on the map, sets zones with entry and exit alerts and builds routes with stops.
Does it use a lot of battery?
The app slows down the GPS when you are not moving and has three modes (precise, normal and off) that adjust to the situation.
How many days of history do you keep?
It depends on your plan. Plans with a map show their history days on the card.
What are the pothole and accident reports?
Anyone can report a pothole, speed bump or accident on the road. Others see it on the map and can confirm it with their vote.
Plans and payments
How much does it cost?
Paid plans have a monthly and a yearly price, shown on the plans page in pesos or dollars depending on your country.
How do I pay?
With your MegaCity wallet balance. If you are short, you top up with Mercado Pago from your dashboard.
Can I pay in dollars?
If you are outside Mexico you see prices in dollars for reference, but you are charged in Mexican pesos from your wallet.
Can I cancel whenever I want?
Yes, from your dashboard. You keep the plan until the period you already paid for ends.
App and account
Does it work on iPhone?
The native app is Android only for now. On iPhone you can use the web version and add it to your home screen.
Why is my account a MegaCity account?
Your account belongs to the MegaCity ecosystem: with the same account and wallet you sign in to other platforms. We never store your password here.
How do I recover my password?
On the sign-in screen tap “Forgot your password?”. We send you a code to choose a new one.
Do you offer dedicated servers?
Yes, the Fleet plan includes a dedicated server per city. It is set up on request: write to us from the contact page.
